My job is to rescue failing companies. As a professional crisis manager, I have been asked to take control, usually as executive chairman, of more than 90 companies, from retailers to airlines. Some numbered among Britain’s larger publicly traded groups; others were smaller, privately held operations. All of them faced the imminent threat of bankruptcy.
