Neils Bohr, the eminent quantum physicist, once noted that it is very difficult to make predictions, especially about the future. The last few months have seen many failed political predictions on both sides of the Atlantic, from the Brexit referendum to the rise of Donald Trump. Perhaps leadership pundits should be looking to psychology rather than to political science in order to make sense of these events.
