Many companies are moving towards hybrid — and that means more virtual meetings! As a manager, you can take advantage of emerging technologies to create more effective ways for your people to collaborate and connect.

• Rethink meeting structures: Build and share your meeting agenda a couple days beforehand. Create a timeline that includes the key topics you will cover and when. This will give people a lay of the land, know what to expect, and help them prepare to contribute or suggest additional topics.
• Channel your inner newscaster: The reason we like watching Twitch users interacting with the game broadcast or weather forecasters interacting with maps is because nothing stays static too long on your screen. Rather than plainly stating a data point or using a text-heavy slide, share a chart or an image (even gifs!) and point out the information that you want to emphasize.
• Make meetings more inclusive: Even if everyone is in the office, ask people to join from their desk to even the playing field for all kinds of personalities — those who would raise their hand and speak and those who would prefer to chat in their comments.
• Embrace asynchronous video recordings: Think if the topic you are discussing or the problem you are trying to solve can be addressed via asynchronous recorded video messages shared via email or instant messaging. A strategy like this may be especially useful for global teams located in various time zones.
